I recently had the chance to visit San Francisco and do some birding. The trip revealed many firsts for me including the California Quail, Muscovy Duck, California Towhee, Western Scrub-Jay, Red-shouldered Hawk...and the list goes on. I think i could have spent a month walking around instead of a day...i love this city!
California Quail (male) - Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
I was very happy to have the opportunity to photograph this bird. Various forums report this bird as rare or extinct within the city of San Francisco due to habitat loss and predation by feral cats.
